A Bath and More

Mary was supposed to meet Steve for afternoon drinks at a bar in his part of town, which Mary was happy to describe as 'working class' and not seedy in any way. It had taken a bit of convincing to be allowed out without a chaperone. Consequently, Martha knew about Mary's late night outings with Steve. The old woman was no fool. They had a sit down conversation about it, in which Martha acknowledged that Mary was a young lady, old enough to be considered an adult who would make her own choices. Her only advice was that Mary be discreet and not do anything that might get her into trouble. Martha realized that it was a new world after the war and that women were expressing their freedoms, her own granddaughter among them. If Mary wanted to be out with a man, so be it. Have her dalliances. But be careful. Apparently, Martha did not see this relationship in the long term.

Mary saw it a bit differently. She and Steve had spent a lot of time together and she could tell that she was starting to fall for him. They had fun together and he made her feel comfortable. He was kind and courteous and always a gentleman. He made her laugh and he made her think. And of course, he was one of the most handsome men she had ever seen. The only thing that may have made him unsuitable was his social class.

Steve arrived a bit late to their meeting and Mary was dismayed to find him covered in engine grease. He apologized profusely and said that he'd had to do some unexpected work on the airplanes. He hadn't even bothered to change out of his work clothes since he knew that he was going to have to take a bath. Mary was invited back to his flat while he cleaned himself up.

She was excited to get to see where he lived. The building was nondescript, and they climbed two flights of stairs inside before he let her into one of the apartments. Mary looked around as they entered. It was humble, but clean and tidy. At least he wasn't crammed into one of those tenements.

"It's lovely," she said, honestly meaning it, even if she couldn't picture herself living in a place like this.

His hand stilled where it was, curling a hint tighter as he looked surprised to hear those words. Not unpleasantly so, though, and soon after he was smiling warmly at her, tipping his head closer to kiss her on the lips.

"I love you, Mary," he answered back, not the least bit reluctant to admit it. Honestly, he didn't even know why he hadn't said it before, but if there was ever a perfect time to do it, then this was it.

"Steve," she whispered before pulling him back in for another kiss. Her hand cupped his cheek and when their lips parted, she gazed into his beautiful eyes. Mary grinned, having never felt so light before in her life. In that moment, none of the things that might keep them apart mattered to her at all.

She shifted, parting her knees slightly so that he could continue touching her.

Admittedly, the things that might keep them apart had never really mattered much to Steve. Then again she likely was confronted with those things more often than he was, or she simply was more aware of them. To him, all that mattered was that they cared for each other and wanted to be together. Nothing else could ever be as important as that.

Brushing his nose against hers, he planted soft pecks on her lips, his hand slowly moving farther up. His fingertips brushed against her hairs, carefully dipping past her folds, touching the warm flesh in a tender touch.

She gasped when she felt his fingers make contact with her most intimate place. Mary was trembling from anticipation and excitement. She distracted herself with the small kisses that he was giving her. Was he going to put his fingers inside of her? Whatever he did, she knew that he would make sure she was comfortable and that it didn't hurt.

Steve almost stilled when she let out that gasp, but as she didn't make a move nor say a word in protest, he didn't pull away, and calmly resumed his touches. Slow for now, as he let her get adjusted to the feeling of someone else touching her, the pads of his index and middle fingers dipped lower between her legs, brushing across her opening, but then moved farther up her slit, dragging some of her fluids and slicking her up so his fingers moved more smoothly against her.

Mary wasn't used to having anyone's fingers there, so the touch was a bit of a shock at first. It felt good though and she tried to relax in the warm water.

There was a spot that she knew felt particularly good when touched. Steve's fingers brushed against it and she let out a soft, "Oh..."

That quiet reaction let him know he had found just the spot he was aiming for. Giving her a few seconds, he moved towards it again, this time letting his fingers roll over the same spot in circling motions. He wished he could touch her more, touch her all over, but given their current situation, this was the most he could do. Maybe once they got out of the bath, he hoped, she wouldn't be opposed to moving to the bed instead.

Mary inhaled as Steve focused on that one spot, his fingers moving in slow circles around it. Her hips moved gently along with his hand as she could feel her pleasure starting to build.

"There..." she whispered, burying her head on the crook of his neck. "That feels good."

Steve breathed in slowly when he felt Mary move and push her hips up gently against his hand, trying not to get too excited or carried away. His hand kept moving just as slowly, stroking the soft flesh, the pads of his fingers rubbing and working at that same sensitive spot, wanting to build up her pleasure.

"You're so warm, Mary," he murmured softly into her hair, lips resting against her hairline. "You feel wonderful."

She whispered his name, her eyes closing as she focused on how good his hand felt - much better than her own had. "More..." she found herself saying, her hips bucking back against his hand. Mary pulled her head back and looked up at him, a bit embarrassed that she had asked.

Steve, on the other hand, didn't find it the least bit discouraging. If anything he was glad and excited to hear her ask for what she wanted, and with a soft shivered breath, he let his fingers glide down her slit, prodding at her opening before he pushed one single digit inside, curling it lightly and testing her reaction with a few slow, shallow thrusts. The heel of his thumb pressed against the rest of her in the meantime, still offering some friction and relief to that spot where she felt most pleasure.

Mary held her breath when he pushed his finger inside of her. Fortunately there was only a tiny amount of pain as she grew accustomed to the feeling of it. "That felt incredible," she said. Mary felt lightheaded and dizzy with pleasure as a warmth settled throughout her body. She had never known that it could be like that. In this moment, she loved Steve more than ever.

He mirrored her grin, though he wasn't particularly worried about her not enjoying that. It had been more than clear that it had felt good to her— more than good, even. He was also glad for that, that she wasn't reluctant to express her own pleasure.

"You felt incredible, too," he murmured, washing his hand off in the water before lifting it up to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. "Do you... you want to move to bed?"

Mary wanted to readily accept, though the reality of the situation gave her pause. She furrowed her brow.

"I do, but... I cannot get pregnant, Steve."

If she was going to marry him, that was not the manner in which she wanted it to occur - as a forced conclusion because she was with child. Mary wanted to give her family time to know and accept him instead of having them resent him for getting her pregnant out of wedlock.

That gave him a bit of pause, and for more than one reason. He knitted his eyebrows at first, then let out a chuckle, shaking his head.

"I don't mean— we don't have to do anything more than this, Mary. I'm perfectly happy with just touching you right now." Even if he might be going a little mad with how badly he wanted her right now, he could cope with it. He certainly wouldn't force her or so much as try to persuade her into doing something she wasn't ready to.

However, the way she said it implied something else entirely. Like the only thing stopping her was the possibility that she might get pregnant— and he definitely had a solution for that.

"But if you want to, I have a way for us to... do more," he said, licking his lips a little awkwardly. "I have condoms. Rubber sheathes," he added, figuring she must have at least heard of them, even if never seen or made use of one.

"Oh," she said, her eyes widening a bit. Mary had indeed heard of those, but had never seen any before. "And they... work?"

She had to admit, his finger felt good inside of her, and she wanted to feel more of him. That experience had been much better than her first one. Mary gazed down at him to see that he was already half hard. "I want to please you too. You've been so good to me." She leaned in to kiss his lips. "I think I'm ready."

Steve smiled lopsidedly at her question, tipping his head a little. "Yes, I should hope so." Or else it seemed a little pointless that anyone would use them. He at least never had any issues.

"If you want to, Mary, then... I'd like that very much," he said softly, closing his eyes as he returned her kiss. "I'll make you feel good, too."

There wasn't much doubt in her mind that he would make her feel good. Steve had already proven that. If she didn't have to worry about pregnancy, then she was ready to have sex with him.

Mary nodded and kissed him again. "I want you to make love to me." She wanted to be able to explore his body as he had hers.

Smiling against her lips, his nose bumped lightly against hers, hands nudging gently at her waist. Her words only made him more excited and eager to do more, and that definitely wasn't going to happen while they were still in the bath. "Get up, then. Bed's far more comfortable." And she was lying partly on top of him, so she'd need to get out of the tub before him.
